1. What is Spinning?

Answer: Spinning is the process which is used in the production of yarns or filament from fiber or from the chemical compound.

2. What is fiber?

Answer: Fiber or fiber is a natural or synthetic substance that is significantly longer than it is wide.

3. What is the textile fiber?

Answer: The textile fiber is a thin thread of a natural or artificial substance, especially one that is used to make cloth or rope.

4. What are the types of fiber?

Answer: There are three fiber categories;

• Plant fiber: Cotton, flax, linen, etc.
• Animal fiber: Wool, Silk, etc.
• Synthetic fiber: Rayon, acetate, Polyester, etc.

We also classified fiber like normal fiber, thin-walled fiber, dead fiber, etc.

5. What are the types of synthetic fiber?

Answer:  Synthetic fiber are three types;

• Filament
• Filament Tow
• Staple

6. What is spun length?

Answer: Spun length is the distance exceeded by a stated percentage of fibers from a random catch point in the drafting zone.

7. What is Staple length?

Answer: The average length of a spinnable fiber is called staple length.

8. What is the effective length?

Answer: The length of the main bulk of the longer fiber known as effective length.

9. What is Model length?

Answer: It is the length of a group of fibers where the most number of fibers have equal length.

10. What is ginning?

Answer: The process by which seed and cotton are separated after plucking the cotton seed from the cotton plant.

11. What is yarn?

Answer: Yarn is a long continuous spun thread which is suitable for use in the production of textiles knitting, weaving, or sewing.

12. What is the count?

Answer: Count is a numerical expression which indicates the fineness and coarseness of yarn.

13. What are the types of yarn count system?

Answer: There are 2 count system or method;

• Director metric count system: Tex, Denier, etc.
• Indirect or English count system: Ne
• Worsted system.

14. What is the twist?

Answer: Twist is the spirality of bundle of fiber or filament.

15. What is the crimp?

Answer: The wavy shape of thread or yarn is called crimp.
